Actual ballot initiative results show the polls are wrong on gun control support

Maine and Nevada had universal background check proposals as ballot initiatives in 2016. National polling indicated 93% support for the policy. However, Nevada's passed with only 50.45% support and Maine's failed with 51.8% voting against it.

The polls may not be wrong, they just might be flawed in how they frame the question
These are 2 blue(ish) states

Once people see the details in what they are voting on they don't agree.
Dems are trying to swindle people. Their definition of "common sense gun control" is not mainstream.

Also, people may be reluctant to oppose something they are led to believe is popular when asked in a poll when they will vote against it anonimously.

That is a fact. We were living in Reno at the time. I cast my ballot for Trump before work and stayed up late watching the returns. My gun nut buddies and I watched that fricking Bloomberg initiative barely squeak by. Next day we rejoiced as local sheriffs said they would not enforce it.
93% my arse.
93% my arse.

Random uninformed voter: No.
Poll: Do you think criminals should be allowed to use the “gun show loophole” to buy guns?
Random: No.
Pollster: See, these people support universal background checks and gun registrations!!!!

Depends on their purpose...

No - polls are intentionally created in most cases like this to drive opinion, voting and legislation. They are not, by and large, intended to gauge opinion (despite pretending to).

You probably had a much nicer morning commute. Some days I would take Virginia rather than risk the spaghetti bowl to get to work on the Southside of town. I sure miss Sushi Pier.

The commute to Renown Regional was a breeze. The spaghetti bowl still appears in flashbacks. For the high desert Reno did have good Sushi. Lake Tahoe and skiing/mountain biking were fun as well.

Background checks equals you need the governments permission to buy a firearm. That is obviously in violation of the 2A. You are not supposed yo need permission from the government to exercise a right.
