More interesting to me - this is THE issue that got St George created in the first place.

Imagine a world where 15 years ago, EBR would have been on board with allowing the southern part of the parish to form it's own school district. Remember when then-state senator Sharon Weston Broome said that in order to create a standalone school district, they'd need to incorporate as a city first? Well ok then.

It's absolutely mind-blowing that all of this eventually came to fruition. Now it's time to complete the circle. It's time for SBR to finally create what has plagued the southern part of the parish for generations.

Vote YES on Amendment 2.

Let's do this!

Actually central had kids from outside of central.

Being out of EBRSB control will be good no matter how you slice it.

Current property taxes will more than fund the new school system.

The only people who actually live in St George voting no have kids in charter schools. T

Actually it's the magnet school parents. they have their golden ticket in hand and don't give a rat's hairy arse about the rest of the kids not in magnet schools

I think some of the hesitation for people to vote yes is that there are simply no details, no actual plan for how this will be ready in a year.

There is actually a plan. It's in the Act that established the boundaries of ISD Boundaries. The "no plan" argument is a straw man put forward by the Magnet School moms and the Leftist PULSE PAC.

Just know that there is no plan that will satisfy these loud-mouthed AWFLs

Now it has no traditional public schools left; it’s 100% charter-operated

The problems with Baker weren’t funding IMHO… it was leadership.

And thus the problem. Parents who have kids at BRMHS and Lee don’t want to change the status quo because their kids, quite literally, won the education lottery in the parish.
