Folks commenting about a whole race aren’t any better than the animals we just watched. Race plays zero factor in what we saw. That type of culture is to blame. Hate is to blame. But skin color has nothing to do with it

Teachers. Social workers. Counselors. Mentors in the trades.i work everyday with young black men and women. And have seen them rise above circumstance to get degrees. Well paying jobs in trades…and stability for themselves and their families. shite I’m one myself if you want my story.
On both sides? We have people that glorify the shite like drugs in guns and music. We have had communities destroyed by the introduction of crack by the government. We have dems that perpetuate a system that doesn’t really benefit black people. And we have conservatives who won’t hire someone just because their name is Chiquita.

Alright... I know you're not an ambassador... but.. why do you think this is?
Marriage/parentage rates are falling in the white population too, I'd be happy to hazard a guess on my own race.
I think my peeps are hung up on right timing or affordability... or the brave new world of single mom bad assery. I'm so happy my own daughter got married and procreated before her 30s.

LBJ provided the foundation for this.

I'm probably not smart enough to give a good answer. But the Great Society, combined with falling marital rates across the board, are pretty big reasons.

Everyone of these subhuman pieces of shite should be put down.

Yes! This needs to be more of a thing- for all communities, not just one or another.

Do you feel that the push for errbody to have a ten year degree screwed this method of advancement up? I do... for all communities.

I'd love to know your story... but I've noticed the memory is long in this place and what you say will be held against you, but if ya froggy, I'm all ears!

Yes... but, a) why is it so damn popular? and b), where are the alternatives... alternatives that aren't cracker adjacent?

Years ago... I'd have pushed back on this- not anymore. Our overlords have been proven deviant.
quote:

Why don't black people (as a group, not entirely) see this? What do you think white people are missing noticing on both sides of the political aisle?
quote:

Okay.. I'm going to answer this as honestly as I can. Some employees are harder to fire than others, and some of that subset find security in that fact and aren't the workers they could be. Also... some names give hint at upbringing, and some backgrounds are harder to work with than others... and harder to fire.
If I were a business... I'd interview Chiquita, cuz it's not like she picked her own name- but I would, honestly, be on higher alert for 'flags' that she may be a difficult employee.
To be fair... I'd do the same for face piercing, abundant tattoos, funky colored hair, scraggly fingernails and other such. 'flags'.
So... there it is.

About $15k a year for my son, similar age to kid in video, to go to private school. There's plenty of people of color in the private school too, almost half, but they come from families with means and aren't raised as hood rats and those black parents are protecting their beloved black children from the same bullshite I'm protecting my white child from.
Yep
That's why I said the rule even applies for parents of black children. Frankly I solved it by moving away from black people entirely. You could hit my house with a nuclear weapon and you'd be lucky if you killed four black people. This way I don't even have to try to sort them out. Yes I know what that sounds like but I really don't give a shite

Falling marital rates are awful... the Big Lie that men and women don't need each other or can't work together striving for the same good things.
Two are better than one and a cord of three strands cannot be easily broken. (bible verse I probably messed up, but hope I got the meaning of)

I’m gonna have to disagree with you here just because I’d like to think my work isn’t pointless
And I absolutely do believe the push for higher education has hurt a ton of people. I feel like that something that can easily be pushed more in our community.

It’s anti establishment. That’ll always be attractive to young impressionable people. It’s dumb as hell But the lack of family units really perpetuate the negatives there. But there are alternatives in the black community. Sports is a huge one obviously.

Have you read this thread? Liberals are typically either ridiculously anti racist or will at least lie to you with the hidden shite. Conservative keep it real but real means straight up being called inferior by plenty on that side. Not all mind you but the loud voices stick. And that’s the two sides you gotta choose between.
And yea I’m just saying poor Chiquita just needs to now be extra careful not to come off a certain way just because of a name. You may give her grace but the person at the next place might not.

First, thank you for engaging.

I'm sorry... I'm not putting people involved in the shaping and caring for youth in the crosshairs- I feel it is more of a policy problem and just too many kids in need.
quote:

Fair point. Next question though... is it simple rebellion against the old heads, or is there a vein of anti-white in there too? I feel like there is a lot of intention to be 'different' that it ends up being anti anything 'those other people' do.
quote:

That's gotta sting. Do you think it is an antiblack sentiment, or a cultural sentiment, or an ingrained 'differentness'. Do you feel blacks are considered inferior as a culture bloc or as individuals? I assume you are black, or at least not white adjacent... do you feel like you must overcome stereotypes or do you feel like white people take you as an individual?
quote:

Thorny question... first, this is not Chiquita's fault as she did not name herself... but, as fault goes... does it lay more on the parent that chose a standout name or on (white) people that have come to be wary of 'anti-establishment' names? What is the drive in the community to pick such unique, yet disadvantageous, names?
Again, thank you for engaging. And I'd still like to know more of your story.

This is good discussion I gotta get to bed haha.
I think you’re right on with numbers issue. But at the same time I think the black community is stronger than in say the 90s. I don’t know if enough respect is given to the time is takes to change a culture built around oppression or better yet a mindset that perpetuates oppression as a fact even when it doesn’t always exist.
Oh it’s more than a vein. Establishment is white because that’s our population. Our history. But again I think that history runs so deep. It’s stupid because our history is so much more intermixed and complex but for so long it’s been preached seperate but equal (or not) that’s it’s been burned into the blood of our culture,
I don’t live life in an oppressed mindset because I have confidence in my abilities. That said I still get judged based on my appearance because that’s how life works for some. Those judgments happen person to person.
As for names…idk there. You’d die if I gave you some names I’ve heard in my career. But I think Chiquita isn’t even bad. Just reflects a diff background but that isn’t necessarily bad. I think holding onto culture in that way is great and reflects respect to the past.

Sort of correct. Statistically, a 2 parent home or a single parent home with the father typically have similar outcomes. It’s when a woman is left alone to raise children that outcomes plummet. Marinate on that one while pondering a court system that defaults to children staying with mothers…

The DA needs to lay out why not. "Hate Crimes" need to go away, because it's obvious that they are racist. Would be nice if the DOJ picked this up as a "hate crime" to finally put that special distinction to bed finally.

Many do, but it’s not their skin color that causes it. Also many black people do condemn this type of behavior (to your point, maybe not enough). But I’m not going to bundle them all in the same group because I’m not an ignorant arse
