A question about stereotyping and white supremacy

Some white people in history have done some terrible things and some white people in the present have said and done some terrible things = all white people need to apologize and all white people have in some way contributed to racism. Even if you've never done anything wrong as a white person you must apologize and accept responsibility.
Some Muslims/ illegal immigrants in history have done terrible things and some Muslims/ illegal immigrants in the present have said and done some terrible things = we need to be understanding and be careful not to lump all Muslims/ illegal immigrants together because they're all individuals and not responsible for the actions of their group. Even if you're a Muslim/illegal immigrants criminal your crimes should be hidden and you can escape the law in order to make sure you're protected.
Is that correct?
