If tweet fails to load, click here. There is a solution to the socialism problem we are facing in this country. The Trump accounts is a decent attempt at it but it is too small in scale to get everyone involved in the market. Just investing a small % of social security would both bring the program back to solvency and would also get the entire working population invested in markets.
This is the only serious way to combat the socialist message that the markets are only for the rich. Once the fund is stable and growing, it would be so much easier to allow folks to increase % or opt out completely.

Where would the 10% go in to exactly? Blue chips?
it was a good idea and frankly, it still is.

i remember. shoulda been able to contribute as much as you wanted to any non SS investment. dumbass democrats rejected it. They are really the LCD when it comes to money and common sense.
hey let;s trust the government to get us a better return than basic index ETF's! GENIUS!

I agreed with it then. One only has to look at the cities that opted out of the SS tax to see the tremendous monthly payments the retirees receive. Certain posters here are in those cities now, trying to hook up with those single retirees for spousal benefits eventually.

for those not skilled enough to trade stocks or commodities or hold stocks or deal in real estate. simple.
VOO, QQQ, etc. dump it in and forget about it.

my father-in-law keeps telling me all they need to do is remove the cap on the taxable income (currently $184,500) and it will be funded indefinitely. i don't really know if that'll fix any issues with SS or not though.

it is called financially ignorant and wanting to stay willfully ignorant. if those clowns, for example, would read our money board their heads would explode with all the ways to make money and invest. they do not wanna learn. they rather depend on SS.
really sad how dumb and stupid this populace is when it comes to $$$.
sad and pathetic.

do you want that OR
payroll tax percentage increase? i already pay double, 15.3% as i am self employed albeit the owner portion is tax deductible from my business.
retirement age pushed back even further? many here are listed at 67 for full retirement as is. DO we want to get into the 70's? i wanted to opt out of this ponzi scheme 25 years ago.
FDR fricked all of us with this sham. there was no demand for SS. It was s old to us with "imaginary packaging and deceptive labeling".

It will fix it but it’s a big tax increase and most Presidents are afraid to do it. It’s still better to do what Bush planned.

I would rather fix it with a market solution that a tax.
