Just as an aside, this video shows how out of control people are. Hate speech is protected under the first amendment. That kid thinking his actions are in any way allowable is demonstrating just how close we are to losing free speech.

A majority of his generation thinks free speech doesn't cover "hate speech" and worse, they think assaulting someone over hate speech should be allowed

So the OP gets to decide what is hate speech? The only hate I heard in that clip was about 20 "frick yous" - the go-to line when the left doesn't have a credible argument for a retort.

My guess is that he wanted to use this video since it was hard to tell who was holding the sign and then come in with some sort of aha because people are defending the godhatesfags guy.

I think it can be argued to be hate speech.
I just think the idea that if we label something hate speech, it's no longer free to say is a VERY dangerous road to go down.
