9/11/01 Is The Catalyst For All This

Let's step back in time shall we. People forget, but George W. Bush's 2000 campaign regarding foreign policy sounded more like Pat Buchanan than John McCain. And then mere months after he's inaugurated, we have 9/11. After 9/11, we declare war on a tactic. We invade Afghanistan, then Iraq, drone bomb half a dozen countries, invade Libya and then Syria. We pass the Patriot Act, the NDAA and grant the FBI and NSA unimaginable powers. We effectively allowed them to create a state within a state, all in the name of security.

They will never give up the powers we granted them. And don't just blame the Democrats. The Republican Party loved these institutions during the Bush administration and the Democrats love them now. The point is, it should be clear to anyone with a brain who benefitted most from 3,000 dead Americans. If they're willing to try and oust the most powerful man in the world because he's a political outsider, what would they do to us peasants if it meant unlimited resources and power?

If we ever get out of this insanity, we will be judged as the cowardly generation, who let a fear of goat herders in the Middle East put the last nail in the coffin of a constitutional republic. We were warned, but as usual, the fear overrode our principles.
