Completely agree with this. I currently pay for my own kids to go to private school and I also pay for other people's kids to go to New Orleans public schools, as painfully reminded by my property tax bill every year. It's not right.

Exactly. People are in here saying a voucher system is bad. Compared to what? They act like the current system is some education utopia worthy of our protection.
In many places, the public schools are very good.
In many places, they are horrible.
Louisiana tried to split the baby, by offering vouchers only to kids in failing schools. What we have found is the good private schools refused to accept them, the bad private / religious schools did... and in many cases, the education is no better off.
Meanwhile, charter schools are doing well, and when they aren't doing well, they get shut down. Charter schools still have some level of oversight. The voucher-accepting private schools did not.
Open-access public schools is the only answer that makes sense, gives choice, and isn't a grift for churches, non-profits, and private companies.

Because they would have to implement state testing. Not worth it for many schools.

Your assessment of church schools grifting doesn't match what I have seen. The main church schools in our area seem like a financial liability rather than a cash cow. One of my best friends is a pastor in another town and it's the same there. They seem to do a good job and are not getting rich but simply trying to provide an educational alternative to the public system. You seem to have an axe to grind against churches or religious education.

They should go to the schools in the project. Little Bobby or Mary Kate might get beat out in sports and not be the best anymore.

They name the school, you don't think the state knows. School gives parents the paperwork , parents fill it out, name the institution. State cuts the check to parents......state still knows who it gave money to.

Iowa has full open enrollment.
Go where you want.
Hasn't impacted shite
Except some football and basketball teams have gotten even better
