It will find you when you aren't looking. Have Faith. Enjoy what you like and you'll bump into her.

You sound like a guy I’d reference on how marriage can be a beautiful thing

Lot of people in my generation have lost their belief in that fact.

Congratulations on your lasting happy marriage.

Here is another. We were married April 1968. I had about eighteen months left in Submarine duty, USS Lafayette SSBN 616.

Like CB and his wife, we've been blessed. Its been a wonderful fifty years.

The only thing I’d add for the young bucks would be the observation that if you want a great family, great kids, family harmony, success etc - start by being a devoted husband. That’s the key. Love and honor your wife and be a team through life.

Absolutely - and you got to suffer through a few disappointments and hard times = makes you stronger.

A marriage that long-lasting usually says FAR more about the wife than the husband. LOL

Seriously, what an incredible example you set for future generations. Well done - both of you.

We still want pics, though, old man.

First - your avatar image is a dead ringer for me. John Bolton is my doppelgänger.

I was born in the Great Depression. My kids are closer to boomer age.

But your post reminds me of one of my favorite lines = Many times a clerk or cashier will complement my wife on her jewelry, especially her rings.

When I hear that, I just sigh wistfully and say "Yeah - her first husband gave her all that crap and she won't take it off. Sometimes I think she is still in love with that goober."

I've actually had them apologize for mentioning it, but our laughter soon gives it away.

61 years is impressive. The missus and I just celebrated 21 years last year.

This is the absolute TRUTH - I don't see how she has put up with me all these years - and neither can anyone else who knows us.

She is one in a billion.

see above, thanks to one of our great posters = he gave me a tutorial on how to do it.

It's hard to find a recent pic of her without her dark glasses - she cannot stand the light anymore. She is now legally blind with Macular Degeneration and light actually pains her.

So proud of her grit.

I don't think you should denigrate the husband's effort in a marriage. 61 years is a long time. Not too long ago this was longer than the average lifespan.

Its fricking work for both parties.
