For cause will be interesting to play out. I’m guessing some sort of insubordination but that will be highly fact-specific on what happened at that meeting

Dear Mr. Pelley:

While I’m new to 60 Minutes, I’ve devoted my career to investigative journalism and storytelling. I started this job excited to collaborate and to benefit from the wisdom and experience of the 60 Minutes veterans, with you among them. For that reason, one of the first things I did in my new role was call you to talk and invite you to dinner. It is a profound disappointment that you rejected that overture and chose ambush instead.

Yesterday, you hijacked my first meeting with staff to disparage me, my qualifications, and my intentions with remarkable incivility and contempt. I welcome a diversity of viewpoints and respectful debate among the team, but this was nothing of the sort. Yesterday’s performative display of hostility-enacted in front of the staff instead of in a civil, private conversation demonstrated that you have no interest in contributing to the future success of the show, or approaching my new tenure with a mind open to collaboration and progress. I am here to deliver first-in-class news programming, not to make headlines about newsroom drama. I am eager to work alongside those who share this goal.

Will Pelley sue CBS for 5 thousand dollars?

He's pushing to be fired to get compensated in some way and/or become the ultimate lefty martyr.

So THIS is the guy that made 60 minutes unwatchable for the last 20 years.

Wasn’t Pelley the voice for “Behind the Music” way back in the day?

Other than that; his self entitled, liberal, pompous arse should have been fired as soon as he finished pitching his little hissy fit yesterday.

Indeed. Firing this hyperpartisan piece of shite that promoted outright fabricated news takes integrity.

True Bari Weis is who put Hilton in charge of 60 minutes and also driving the termination of a couple of the other correspondents as well. She just wants the ole 60 minutes of UNBIASED investigative reporting.

I saw a segment about the guy from the DOJ who was fired over the "Maryland Man" illegal. This piece of shat filed paperwork that said MM was Tren De Agua instead of MS13 then told Boasberg about it in court and said he didnt believe the guy should be deported.

He gets on 60 minutes with Pelley and pretends to be a whistleblower defending democracy and Pelley sits there with a shat eating grin, knowing its a blatant lie. National Enquirer level jounalism, embarrassing for what was once a proud program.

Yep. These people are public figures representing a brand. I am certain they have clauses in their contract to protect "the brand" from public tantrums like this, with the right to terminate. And ole Pelley just handed them the loaded gun.

Used to look forward to 60 Minutes years ago. Haven't watched it in so many years I couldn't even tell you. So what did Scott Pelley do worthy of all of the hoopla? (Not that I really care)

Why is this even news at this point? I mean in this day and age who the heck even watches 60 minutes?

It's a relic of the past at this point that needs to be put to bed. Scott Pelley should've been thankful he was making millions to do one show a week during the fall and spring (remember 60 minutes only does reruns in the summer).

Even if it became completely non-partisan like back in the day, again who is sitting down on a Sunday evening and watching this? It comes off being as much of a relic as people going home, having dinner and watching the 6:00 local news and 6:30 national news. I know for me I can't remember the last time I did either.
