I agree. It would be hard to find a better speech by any President than the Brandenberg Gate speech. Reagan probably gave his best remarks though during the Oval Office address after the Challenger disaster.

The speech in the video posted above was from June 1976.

That was the joke.

Thread title said his greatest speech was 50 years ago. That would make the current year 2037.

I was seven when he signed the amnesty provision and remember my dad bitching about it. Heavily influenced, I know, but it didn’t seem to make any sense to a seven year old at the time. Shameful move for Reagan and others.

Actually his greatest speech was at the Stark Memorial and it's not even close.

Hell I watched 3 channels for years. Did you have to put tin foil on the rabbit ears to get one or two of them to pick up a little better lol?

lol. Well I lived in a pretty rural area growing up. We would have trouble at times so we had foil on ours lol. Those were the days.

I was married and expecting first child when he was elected. We were going through a very tough financial time with Carter. Grocery prices didn't just go up every week. They went up every day!
Gasoline prices didn't just go up. There was no gasoline! If a station had any gas the lines at the pump went for blocks.

You can. Thank Reagan for the prices going down. Reagan ended the price controls instituted by Nixon and carried on by Carter on gasoline. The prices initially went up but then when they fueled more exploration and production, the prices came down substantially. Reagan pretty much broke OPECs hold over us
