5 tips from a man who just moved to the Lone Star State from California

A few days ago I posted a link to an op-ed by a Cali guy who moved to Austin (Tiger Droppings PT Board), before returning back to California.
He wasn’t impressed with The Lone Star State.
This evening I’d like to share some alternate wisdom from a photographer who recently moved to San Antonio from ... of course, California. (Houston Chronicle).
One of the aforementioned gentlemen gets it; one does not.
We’re more than happy to welcome you to Texas! We’ll even help you unpack and get settled.
But you must leave behind your incongruous ways.

BONUS TIP: "Don't try to make plans with nobody on Sundays. Sunday is for church and football. They take both of those very seriously."

Been in TX 11 yrs, never heard that one. Unfortunately in traffic, no one waves when you let them in.

Not sure about the peace sign, but I regularly wave/lift my hand off the wheel in acknowledgment.
Maybe the peace sign is a SATX thing.

My tips:
1. If you are on a two lane highway, pass the big rig in front of you or open enough space between it and you for the guy behind you to pass you. Better yet, if you don’t know how to drive, stay off the highway.
2. If you want to live like a Californian, go back to California.
3. Waving back works too. But being nice doesn’t begin and end when you get into your car.

When you put your signal on to get in a lane...just get in there. No need to wait. In reverse...when I put my signal on, and there's room....I'm getting in. No need to try to speed up to close the gap, and get mad cause I still got in.
