5 Republicans that don't deserve your future votes
Posted on 1/11/19 at 7:50 am
Posted on 1/11/19 at 7:50 am
quote:
The five are Reps. Peter King (R-NY), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Fred Upton (R-Mich.), Chris Smith (R-NJ), and Brian Mast (R-FL).
quote:
King is a sponsor of the bill to criminalize private gun sales, standing with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) for more gun control.
quote:
And Rep. Mast is continuing to show a penchant for gun control he first displayed after the Parkland school shooting, when he called for President Trump to enact a national ban on the sale of AR-15 rifles.
Vote them out, vote them out, vote these motherfrickers OUT!!!!

He is one of 9. Hurd belongs at the top of the list

King’s constituency loves him. He’s in a weird place but 2A Rights are non-negotiable for most N.Y. Conservatives. Problem is, that entire state is turning more and more progressive day by day. It didn’t used to be that way until the past ten years or so. It used to be limited to the big cities for the most part.
King’s days may be numbered but, at the same time, we’ll have to be concerned that he’ll be replaced by a far left wing progressive.

I understand that you disagree with their positions. But look at their districts. They are representing their constituency.
All Republicans do not have to hold the exact same beliefs on every subject. We aren’t Democrats.
Not all that long ago their were conservatives and liberals in both parties. The person who agrees with you 75% if the time is not 1/4 your enemy. Go ahead and primary these guys. The solid conservative nominated in their place will get their doors blown off in 2020 and then we’ll have five more Democrat lockstep voters in the House.
Besides, the number of people on this Louisiana based website who will ever be in a position to vote in PA-1 or King’s district is incredibly small.

Diluting the 2nd amendment is non-negotiable and any Rep.....RINO that is for diluting it, doesn't belong in the Rep party.

Correct but not shitting on the Constitution has been a universally Rep standard.

You can believe this all you want. And to some extent I share the same personal view that you do.
However, there ARE reasonable opinions to the contrary.
Vilifying people in your own party every time they hold a belief that differs from your own is a terrible strategy. Its party of the problem that the GOP has right now in the House. The center-left wing of the party was eviscerated from the right by the Tea Party, and the mainstream Republicans that replaced them got wiped out by the left over the past several election cycles.
Holding non-negotiable beliefs is not a practical attitude to have, and it is not a very effective way to govern a national party. Nor is it a way to win elections.

This is just low hanging fruit. You can do better than that. The Republican Party has always included a wide range of conservatism and beliefs. It is not a lockstep party, and really has never been. There has to be compromise, its the only way our system of government works.

Unless they are trying to shite on the Constitution or any portion thereof......this is just a non-starter for ME.
IF a Rep says (for example), "hey we need to increase SNAP benefits and eliminate any work requirements for public assistance"....I do not believe is this BUT I won't throw them off the bridge for saying it or wanting it.

I agree but there are plenty of things they can frick up without fricking up "Not Shall Not Be Infringed"

Vote against them in the primaries, but if they make it through for fricks sake don’t vote against them.
Posted on 1/11/19 at 10:33 am to Wtodd
Because the Democrats that replace them will be much more sympathetic to your idiotic views around guns...

The push to criminalize private gun sales is being presented as a universal background check requirement. Such checks would require Americans to get government permission to sell a gun to a neighbor, a life-long friend, or a co-worker.

How is this diluting the 2nd amendment?

How is it not? If you and I are both law abiding citizens, why shouldn't I be able to sell you a gun?

Wouldn't the background check prove you're both law abiding and remove any doubt to the legitimacy of the sale?

And anyone that concludes that I said this isn't smart enough to be in this thread

Dealers would secretly love that bill. They wouldn't admit it in public, but the best way to do a private sale under that bill would be to have a licensed dealer broker the transacton. For a fee, of course.
