2019 credic rating by state

I look at Illinois, and it becomes evident why the rest of the state wants to divest itself of Chicago, and make it the 51st state.

How would that work? Would we have to grant Chicago nationhood like the Native American preservations (most don't realize this, but many of them are technically considered their own country by treaty.)

State legislature and Congress both have to sign off on it. Not sure what the state legislature’s political makeup is in Illinois but with a Dem House, that proposal is DOA bc it would likely give the Republicans 2 senate seats

Illinois has a huge(!) issue with gubment pension plans.
