I think Trump managed that about as good as he could have. He let things go for a while, jumped in and took control when he thought it was time, and then laid down the hammer.
It's possible JD was a bit too eager. It was nothing Trump didn't have control over though.

Trump clearly picked JD as VP because he sees him as his successor in 4 years.

I think you missed the part where Vance is not just another VP like we’ve had as long as we can remember. His tenure as VP has already shown that he is integral to Trump’s plans and will be active in l representing and implementing the administration’s priorities and policies instead of taking a back seat. It’s one of the strengths of this administration, whether you agree with the policy agenda or not.

Vance didn’t do anything wrong. He didn’t try to speak over Trump or contradict Trump. I appreciate that the VP is an active participant in the Administration and not just a mascot.

It was reported on FOX that Zelenskyy tried to do the same thing to Biden and Biden blew up at him... Biden had secured money for Ukraine and in the same conversation Zelenskyy wanted more money and Biden lost it... So don't say that "Zelensky doesn't understand the situation"... The guy is grifting for money and sending his people to die over it... He knows what he is doing...
