inimum wage is too low and hasn’t kept up with inflation. And frankly, if you can’t afford to pay a living wage, you probably shouldn’t be in business.

Minimum wage is meant to be a living wage for yourself.

Not your family of six.

I'd rather do away with it and welfare altogether and go with UBI.

This would never work because most people would blow their money on shite they don't need and then we'll have to go back to the drawing board and think of something else. You're not solving the problem, you're just enabling even worse decision making.

No matter what we do the problem is always going to be the choices people make. Either you become a full-on authoritarian state and attempt to force people into certain decisions you deem are "good" for them, or you let people make the choices themselves and live with the consequences of their bad choices.

The whole point of consequences is to learn from them and make different decisions next time.

Determine exactly a living wage for me? You can’t because it varies from person to person.

Increasing the required wage nationally means more layoffs and price increases. Thus impacting lower income in both unemployment and increased cost of living.

Can you not even fricking Google? The Congressional Budget Office says 1.3 millon lost jobs.

It was literally the first link at the top of the page after Googling.

Why would you like the guberment to tell people how much they make? Do you not believe in the freedom of running your business how you see fit? You believe the guberment should determine that? Why don’t you ask the Venezuelans how they feel about that issue? This is Marxist ideology and it should be destroyed!!

The alternative is that they get paid by taxpayers too.
Or we could just treat them like the OP wants to treat business owners and let them starve. Not suggesting. Just using his “logic”.

Businesses don’t exist to provide people with the means to pay for their personal expenses. Neither does the government.

How is that business or taxpayers fault? Why do they have the burden for supporting them?

You keep on saying that welfare and food stamps allow McDonald’s et al to “get away” with paying reduced wages,
As best I can tell he thinks minimum wage is “theft”. Oddly...doesn’t appear to feel the same about taxes, or being forced by government to overpay workers above their economic value.
