Trump is right, it’s worth it for a few weeks of slightly higher gas prices, panicians are going to look stupid come summer time when all this is over and highly successful. This war is the most “American first” thing Trump could have done.

Midterms will be a bloodbath

Doesn't matter where it comes from.... Trump and his team will have it at $2.00 sooner than later. How? Who knows, but they will find a way to make it happen. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but sometime between now and the mid-terms

IF the straits stay closed & IF that sends LNG & oil prices up >30% for over 2 weeks then 2 things will happen:
1. The GCC will have every incentive to ensure regime change happens b/c they can never let this happen again

In an election, you want control over events. All war or military operations are the opposite of that. Too high of a likelihood of diaster or unintended consequences at a minimum.
So, you want our response to threats to be dependent on whether we have upcoming elections? Shouldn't we want a leader who makes decisions based on the actual situation at hand and not just what is politically expedient?
We complain because politicians are always campaigning instead of leading, but now you want Trump to do the same.
