I knew a few people with medical MOSs (and not 68Ws or 18Ds, guys who probably never left the wire but just to go on leave or rotate out of theater). The shite they saw in their line of work would have fricked with my head. A woman hit with shrapnel from a Mk19 after Joe over shot and hit her while she was nursing her child. Kids being taken to the FOB after some Sunni a-hole decided to board a school bus and shoot everyone. Head Hadji at the Hadji Mart losing three limbs to a VBIED attack as he is waiting to get bootleg DVDs and other stuff onto the camp. A unit doing mortar registration somehow fricking up big time and hitting civilians who lived right outside of our camp; the same family who had provided good intel to us about a potential attack on our camp.

Good guys and bad guys getting fricked up is part of the game, but the civilians - especially children - minding their own business getting horrible injuries would have bothered me if I was working at the Aid Station.

I'm glad I didn't have to see any of that with my own eyes.

Just go watch Caleb Hammer financial show. Every single vet that never saw combat is on disability on that show with no actual disability

I know 2 Navy guys that got PTSD from an absolutely horrifiying flight deck incident.
