Rebels had nicer equipment than we had as I was there. We watched at the port new equipment come off ships. We drove it to their bases from the ports only to see them get lost once they reached their destination. We watched the guys take payoffs to sell the equipment to local business people who then sold them to the rebels. Officers in these militaries were maybe pushing early twenties back then and only cared about money. Avg solider was probably 12 yrs old to 16 yrs old.

Then we assisted as advisors to help them go through sites when the Govt soldiers took it over.
We were not suppose to attack or get involved with the rebels unless we were with a group of Govt soldiers as advisors. They had nice new weapons for the 1980’s era and no crappy M16A1’s. We still had M16 A1’s as a regular Army unit.
