Please post your setups. However, there is a catch. You must link each component and explain what it does.

Please keep it "dumbed down" for those of us who are not technically advanced in this area. Thanks

I have these on each of my tvs. Amazon Fire TV

I got the boxes rather than the sticks hoping they would be faster. I have Amazon Prime already that programming is free. I also have Netflix($7.99 a month), Hulu Plus($7.99 a month), HBOGO(use my sister's login) and Espn(sister's login again). Oh and FX for the Simpsons(sister's login).

I also loaded Kodi on it which has all the TV shows and Movies you could want. I watched American Sniper and Unbroken this weekend using it.

Here is a video on how to load it and start it. On step 7 get the TVMC side apk. How to install Kodi Restart the fire tv once you are done.

I have one indoor antenna hooked up now for the locals but I plan to go to Radio Shack to get an outdoor antenna to plug into the coax that Directv had already run.

Also I have Fire TV hooked up on all my stuff through the hdmi just like Directv was, I even have it going through my receiver for surround sound like my Directv box was.

Kodi is probably what will confuse folks the most and to be honest I have only had it a week so it confuses me also. I tell people its like having the old cable box with the chip where you got every channel but better. There is a catch to it however. It takes a few minutes to find shows/movies on sometimes and sometimes they are in SD. I pissed the wife off last night by taking 5 minutes to find one of her shows and it was in SD. If you must watch a show in HD you can buy episodes of stuff on Amazon for $1.99, provided that Hulu or Netflix doesn't have it for free.

I believe I can. You can go to Fox's website and see if they list the cable company of the login you will use. My sister has Cox.

standard definition, yes the picture is ugly. Its only for her Bravo shows so frick em. I have been watch Vietnam in HD. I feel like you watch much better content this way, you don't just have something on because nothing else is on. And if anyone has kids it is perfect. Netflix and Hulu seem to have every episode of everything plus all the movies.

Like I have said before I have an AppleTV 2 jailbroken running XBMC I mainly use it for Navi-X. There are streams for live TV, but it is hard to find reliable ones. It is really great for Movies.

I really like the idea of the TiVo Roamio with the TiVo Minis, and TiVo Streamer. Seems like a decent upfront cost, but the ability to have a guide with cross platform searching seems really ideal to me.

XBMC- Xbox Media Center. Used to be mainly on the original Xbox, but it grew from there and now is available to be installed on Windows PC's, some Droids, Macs, iPhones with Jailbreak I believe.

However, it is best used on a streaming device such as AppleTV ( Has to be 2nd Gen & Jailbroken), or FireTV. You can then install Add-on's to it. Such as Icefilms, crackle, projectfreetv, and my most favorite Navi-X.

Navi-X is where the real content is. Basically lots of people have servers set up and allow people to access their streams.

Navi-X

Kodi aka XBMC

Dedicated HTPC (Home Theater Personal Computer) used for streaming anything, playing blurays, and networked to my home PC for offline content.

Antenna to pick up local channels.

Internet+land line is $69/mo

This is 100% true. I do this. Get all of the digital channels that you would get with an antenna in HD as well.

We've cut the cord for a couple of months now and it's great. Got the Fire Stick when it was on sale to replace the Chromecast (wife wanted an on screen interface), but its wifi is a little glitchy at times. Fire TV box comes in today and I'm looking to do XBMC on it. I've taken a look at some of the threads regarding it and all the add ons, but it seems like a cumbersome interface. I need something that my wife could figure out with ease. Is there some kind of customization that puts all of the different movie or tv show feeds into nicely aggregated sections that are easy to organize and navigate? I'm thinking the way I use Plex, but instead of having to run RSS feeds for torrents and automation for file organizing on my server, I could ditch Plex/torrents, Hulu and Netflix and just use XBMC. But it has to "make sense" to the wife.

Suggestions? Is it possible?

i'd agree there's a learning curve to installing plug-ins and doing technical things in the settings, but the home interface is simple. and you can download different skins to change the look of it. i've been using the Conq skin for awhile now and like it. very clean and simple.

probably. some popular shows are added to xbmc immediately, but others lag a day or two behind. i was watching Gotham on xbmc on monday at 8:50, and it aired live at 8:00. personally, i could have waited a day or two or a week to watch it, and that's fine with me.
