Anyone know if it's pumping oil into the gulf or shut off? Prayers sent to all the families involve, couldn't happen at a worse time with this heavy wind we are fixing to get

Advocate has an article up...explosion was reported just before 3 pm. Rig was not producing at the time and no pollution reported.

USCG didn't get on scene until 7:30 tonight per reports so no one has done pollution check. Platform was shut-in.

Ironically Fieldwood is owned by Lorde Brown former head of BP

Scary stuff. I'm on a rig as I type and BSEE was onboard before abruptly leaving at 1430. We are having issues of our own at this well site.... Hate hearing these kinds of things. Comes with the industry unfortunately.

No issues that could come close to what happened on this platform but it's just another example of why safety and training are so important. You get caught not wearing PPE on my rig and they'll run you off.

PPE doesn't protect my face. I would rather just die than look like darkman

I responded in that thread the other day on the OT about the Oilfield if you get a chance.

I am guessing you are talking about safety glasses, they are not designed to protect your face, they are not designed to protect your face from fire, but wearing them to avoid other blinding injuries is always the best option..
