I thought that they needed to fix the bug before changing the password would be effective. Or has that already happened?

These are basically all of the majors and patches were applied almost immediately with them. There are countless smaller sites that may or may not have applied the patch.

My yahoo account got hacked last week and sent out a mass email. Thankfully people's spam filters caught it

i just got an email from my insurance company (USAA) that they have set up appropriate blocks and no info will be compromised
