For those who have never been or heard of it. Cat Island is a barrier island 7 miles off the Mississippi Coast due south of Pass Christian/Bay St.Louis

We have fished it many times and decided to plan a camping trip to the island in April. We have 5-6 boats and 20-30 people going.

Anyways, we decided to do a little scouting this past weeked and took some good pics and found a bunch of cool shite washed up on the south side. Figured I'd share a few pics in case anyone ever decides to check it out:

I'm pumped about the camping trip. We are also going to bring the bowfishing rig if it's calm enough for it to make the 7 mile trip.

we have plenty of them

We will be on the beach most of the time if not heading further south to fish. We should be alright. Long sleeve under armour FTW

Spent lots of time on Horn Island growing up, The west end of Horn(Beer Beach) has thousands of people on weekends. Loved it, clear water and good times!

I was fishing out at cat saturday morning. We camp there pretty often when the weather is right. The sand bar on the south east part of the island is where we try to do some bow fishing. Where do y'all go?

Is it still a private island?

We used to go there all the time growing up and would get run off by some guy on a 4-wheeler telling us it was a private island and he was the island cop.

It didn't hold too many fish but it did give up some very nice trout every once and awhile (caught the largest speck of my life there).

The western half and southern tip of the island is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. The rest is actually now owned by...wait for it...

BP.

They purchased it to aid in the Horizon Oil Spill cleanup.
