I've been trying to figure out why he left ESPN. He talks shite on them all the time on his show. He just made fun of Chris Berman.

What's his story

I think it was he wanted to spend more time with family (asked to radio some days from home). ESPN refused. He left.

I think he just didn't like how they ran stuff there in general. I don't think there was any one thing. As much as I miss him on ESPN, he made the right decision for himself. He's not regretting leaving there, I can promise you that.

He won't say ESPN on his show, he'll say "mothership" instead.

He owns his radio show now and has a deal with directv to broadcast it on tv
He also works for NBC

So he makes a lot more money, doesn't work nearly as hard and is his own boss

I think ESPN was becoming a bit to dictatorship for his career.

It was a money deal. They tried to lowball him on a contract. Said he was getting old and didn't appeal to younger viewers anymore.

He also once said the fact that he was still friends with olberman and would have him on his show also didn't do him any favors.

May be the first time I've heard someone talk bad about that show.

Now there's a rare point on which I agree with ESPN.

ESPN also doesn't allow any of their guys to do an interview on the DP show.

But I have seen Wilbon on the show before.

if you have Sirius/XM.. you shouldn't even be wasting your time with The Very Boring Dan Patrick Show. There is a lot better content to be found out there. now, if you live in BR and it's either local radio or ESPN radio on the FM/AM dial, then I guess you have to settle for him and SVP and Rome and Cowherd and.. jesus, that's depressing.

I lost an argument based purely on opinion and taste? I can name at least 5 radio shows off the top of my head that are better than SVP.

and before you ask:

*these are all on satellite:

The Dino Costa Show - Mad Dog Radio
Mad Dog Unleashed w/ Chris Russo - Mad Dog Radio
Murray in the Middle - Mad Dog Radio
The Sirius XM Blitz w/ Adam Schein and Jim Miller - NFL Radio
Inside Pitch w/ Casey Stern and Jim Bowden - MLB Network Radio
MLB Roundtrip - MLB Network Radio
Bill King - College Sports Nation
Down The Stretch w/ Dave Johnson - Channel 93

Everyone agrees SVP is one of the best in the business. I don't understand how you don't like him
