I have made the trip to Tuscaloosa countless times. They are very passionate and intense fans, as you would expect. When they were not as good (Dubose- Shula years), it was a great road trip. They were cordial and I always enjoyed the trip.
However, since they have become relevant again under Nicky, they are awful. They have an unmatched sense of entitlement and will get in your face if you have on P&G.
This is just a word of warning...enjoy yourself, but watch your back. This is especially true for after the game. As you leave BDS with a W and are chanting LSU with your fellow LSU fans, watch out for the pissed off Gump. They will get in your face and violate your personal space. Don't be surprised if they poke you and maybe even shove you.
Be careful how you respond though. The Gump law enforcement will always side with the one in red.

Have fun and enjoy your trip... Be Loud and Proud and make sure they know you are there. But, also be aware that they are the most angry people in the world when you piss on their parade. They think their shite doesn't stink and have no consideration for the fact that maybe it does.
I won't make the trip any longer as I would rather enjoy myself with friends than worry about me and my wife's safety.

Geaux Tigers!!!
2011-12...another BCS Championship in New Orleans and another Crystal Ball for the Tigers!!!

avoiding fights is easy. if a gump gets in your face, you ignore them.

eta: i talk a lot of shite and cheer a lot of LSU/tigerbait/etc and have never been in a fight. either you're looking to fight or you're not...just be smart

I heard they throw piss bombs, curse out granddaughters, tip port-o-potties over when Tiger fans go in, throw beer bottles, etc...

horrible, horrible group.

I went there last year with my 8 yo granddaughter. She left to go get ice cream and some 50 year old gump started cursing her out and made her cry.

This, plus whether we won or lost the bar scene crowd was cool too.

I remember after we beat them in 2007, the Tide fans wouldn't look you in the eye, let alone say anything to you. Then again, I was only 17 at the time, 21 now and in college.

In 2003, we were walking out and talking about how dominant we played. Bama lady told us to "have some class" and not rub it in.

I know every fan base has their share of morons but I nearly got in a fight in Birmingham at a gas station for wearing an LSU cap. I didn't even say anything to the guys, the only thing I apparent did wrong was wear an LSU cap. I stopped to get gas on the way to GA and they may have been pissed because it was a couple of months after Chad Jones rolled over Parker and Bama lost at home but seriously? I couldn't see that happening if the situation were reversed for a Bama fan at a gas station in LA.
