Spoelstra is obviously in over his head and isn't going to last. Any chance The Heat could talk Phil into coming back and coaching those guys?

Phil is done, he's in ailing health and needs to get away from the game. What else does he have to prove?

I was thinking about that this morning. If he would come back for any coaching job, it would be with the Heat.

He loves coaching the top players in the game.

Any other coach would've won this finals with that Heat team. Yea I said it.

phil jackson, like the vast majority of professional athletes, is a hyper-competitive a-hole

the question is if he can fill that void without being a coach

Isn't Pat Riley the most likely person to step in if Spolestra can't coach this amazing team?

And LeBron needs to play like he wants to win. Did you see how hesitant he played in the first half? Passed up wide open shots, he just didn't want the responsibility to fall on him when it mattered.

This. He's already with the organization so he would simply add it to his duties.

Yep, I think it'll happen next season at some point.

yeah now that i think about the riley factor, i doubt he'd hire phil

riley is also a hyper competitive douche, and there's no way his ego would allow him to admit his failures

if spolestra wins, riley gets to puff his chest that his guy led them there

Pat Riley and Phil Jackson hate each other. Like literally hate.

I have heard that doc rivers may be a candidate after his Boston correct is up next year.

Phil is only coming back for one job, the Knicks, and that's only if he gets his health issues resolved. The Bill Simmons article on Phil was pretty eye opening about a lot of Phil's struggles w/ his legs and hips.

Riles is the obvious contender to replace Spoelstra, especially considering he did this exact thing before the 2006 season when he replaced Stan Van.

In my heart I believe there are 4 or 5 coaches out their that Miami would have won the NBA title with. In fact I truly believe that had Miami started the season with Carlisle and Dallas with Spoelstra the Heat would be title winners right now and the Mavs maybe don't even make the finals.
