It used to be Jason for me, but as I've grown older I like Freddy because he is actually a good character with personality. Don't get me wrong, I still like Jason but he's basically just a big zombie. Michael myers is more interesting than him because of the fact that he is basically evil for no reason....in the original at least.

1 Freddy
2 myers
3 Jason

I'm glad I didn't Charles Bronson it. That is my ranking too. Freddy scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, but now I like him for the reasons you mentioned. Jason is iconic, but he really is just a big, teleporting zombie. I like Myers, but Fred is still number one for me.

Myers is the only one that I ever found to be creepy. Freddy was always a comedic character to me. Never cared for Jason.

The original Halloween is by far the best of any of those types of movies. Instead of a gore fest, it played on straight suspense.

In the first movie freddy wasn't a comedian. He was actually pretty creepy. Now in the later movies he was always cracking jokes.

I do think Halloween is the best movie out of the 3 but like Freddy the best as a character.

Freddy could get into your dreams, the others just kinda track you down at a gingerly pace. Mind games, it's all about the mind games

Jason

Donald Pleasance made Michael scary. His random monologues during Halloween 1 & 2 added incredible depth to the boogeyman.

And yes, he should definitely count. The first TCM made in '74 was the best potrayal of Leatherface. That scene with the girl pushin fats in the wheelchair in the dark was great.
