Pre 1990 33's were pretty tough. I caught hundreds of fish on them. I had one that lasted me throughout highschool and landed many many 4 lb plus fish. The new ones are crap plain and simple.

I've got one in a drawer somewhere that's probably over 30 years old. It was the first reel I had that was actually mine.
