Winter Shooting Gloves

My father inlaw is in the Honor Guard at Ft Snelling in Minnesota, and is looking for gloves to keep warm, but that still allow him to easily handle his rifle and shoot. Does anyone have any suggestions for good winter shooting gloves?

Get some mittens that fold back with fingerless gloves

Outdoor Research Gripper Gloves
LINK
Fleece gloves with wind stopper that are outstanding. I just got back from a week hunting in North Dakota with them and was very impressed.

It’s hard to find a glove that truly can do both. Usually you’re going to get a thinner glove that h does better, but doesn’t protect much if it’s below 40. Or you can get a thicker glove that protects much better against the cold, but makes handling stuff much harder.
I usually get these LINK which are cheap, block the cold fairly well, and I can still handle my shotgun reasonably well too.

Double up. I bought some fingerless arthritis gloves to wear at night a few years ago. They're compression material, so pretty thin and tight. I wore them out in the woods with some normal shooting gloves on top where the index finger would flap back when ready to shoot. Layers works elsewhere, and also does the job on your hands.

Layers.
I have poor circulation in my hands, so I keep liner gloves in every jacket l own. That way if it's cold, I have access to gloves.
When it's really cold and I'm hunting, I use liner with mittens that fold back like the first response said. More heat retention in mittens

Anything made of or lined with merino wool. Great insulation without bulk.
