If I am hunting on a bluff about 50-60 feet in the air and the wind is at my back, will it impact deer in the bottom?

Will being elevated 50-60 feet over your target area negate your scent if the wind is blowing in the direction of your target?

Watch the fog roll across.
It will usually curl up the side of a bluff, so your scent may blow up the hill.

My experience has been that wind on big slopes almost always seems to blow from the bottom up. This is due to curling when blowing across, blowing up from the bottom, and/or convection/thermals.

In the mornings thermals are rising, you may be okay. In the evening thermals are falling, may be tougher to not get winded.

If the wind was blowing 30kts it wouldn’t. But the wind will slack and all that scent will drift along dropping into the bottom.
I have seen it before where it seemed to work and deer would be milling around feeding and I thought I had beat them and all of a sudden they just busted out. And it was the slack wind or after that it happend.

Fog is wayyyy heavier that scent molecules so it will not be an accurate representation of scent path

Me neither

I just climb the other side of the tree and look backwards the whole time

I don’t even pay attention to the wind anymore. Being still and not moving is the biggest thing.

I smoke and pee off my stand and have killed plenty of deer from does to mature bucks.

If you’re hunting terrain features like bluffs, ridges, bottoms, etc. then this is good advice.

You could also go to the site and wind check in different conditions to know for sure - AM, PM, different winds.

Killed this one in 1998, scored 160 5/8.
Although pretty sure this dude was blind and couldn’t smell. Shot at him the day before and missed, next morning he showed up in the same spot.

Only sure fire way to tell us to sit it. Take some milkweed and pay attention to its path. If it’s no good, get down and reposition or come back the next time with proper knowledge. Too many variables for the board to steer you right.
