depressing season so far, but the reports and migration numbers look awesome for the second split opening.

Isn't that the case MOST years? How long have hunters been screaming that the season starts too soon?

Pecan Island. Ducks, crabs and redfish are on the agenda.

Me either. Could be worse, my neighbor has two blinds on Delta, not only are they dry but there is no water for them to pump. Hell, go do like those yahoo's used to do to me and wade out about 45 yards on the other side of my decoys and whack your cans and pintails that skirt their decoys.

Is it just as crowded as crazy as it is in the morning?

Don't know, but I know those guides from Honeybrake hit it in the afternoon. If you have a popup blind I'd run north and find a spot.

Any body see nay ducks around Morganza. We have some timber and fields up there close to the locks, but I havent been all year. I have never duck hunted it, but I know it has to be in a decent area so close to ther river( I don't think we have had water till the last two weeks or so). Been hunting south of there in the basin but, we haven't had water until recently with all the rain. So we have been deer hunting most of the time.

You hunting in the group that has stuff on both sides of locks? If so I'm in it also. Only been once, other guys a couple of times, neither one of us has fired a shot.

Not in any club, its family land, but only the farmer has hunted it the last ten years or so bc we all have other places. I drove through it last year around the middle of January - lost of water and saw ducks all around the place.

Does this area normally hold ducks? I would think by the location it should. Do yall typically do good when there is water?

We have water. Both sides of the hwy. I think 2 of the timber cells didn't have water but the rest was flooded. They did pretty good opening weekend then if fell off a cliff. They come in right after shooting time. Makes no sense, guys on Cat Island with the same stuff planted limited out on the regular during first split and they're just across the river.

My brother went hunting in Missouri Mon and Tues... Limited out Mon morning and then by Tues morning everything was frozen over and every duck they saw was flying South... They broke up ice and started hunting at 630 but none would respond to the call... They on the way

Werid, I was just curious. We used to do pretty good around simsport and Krotz Springs back when I duck hunted more. I just figured with Morganza's location and area the ducks would be there.

I'm heading out there around christmas (will adjust my expectations) and will look around. Maybe some ducks will come down around the end of the year.

Best of Luck and thanks.
