Can't wait. The last deer hunt I went on I saw so many turkeys I got excited and forgot about deer hunting. Basically just turkey scouting but with a rifle.
I'm coaching a tball team and assisting on a coach pitch team this spring though, so I'm afraid this year will finally be the year that I don't get to go much

I can't wait. I live in south Texas, grew up in south LA, and I have a hunt lined up for my dad and me on 3/24-3/25. My Dad turned 70 in August and has never been on a turkey hunt. I hope I can get one under 30 yards gobbling his head off for my dad.

April 1 - 30 in Rapides Parish.

Ain't no squirrels or quail here anymore but at least we still have turkeys. Quail is a lost cause, but hopefully the tree rats will make a rebound in a couple years....that's if no hurricanes or ice storms wreck the woods again.

Speaking of turkey hunting

The Col released his 50th anniversary edition of The Tenth Legion

Comes autographed with some goodies from his shop, including a turkey feather from one of his kills.

When it warmed up in December and January there was quite a bit of gobbling in Monroe county Alabama. Thankfully some cold snaps shut it down but I have to wonder if that early false spring will impact the season. Alabama has moved the opener to later than the traditional March 15 date to give the birds a chance to get more breeding done before the toms start getting popped. My favorite part of the season is before April when the woods are still open and the bugs aren’t out yet and it’s frosty in the mornings so I have mixed feelings but overall if it reverses the downward population trend I’m for it.

New bow, new broadheads, lots of birds on cam.
I hope it’s a great season for my boy.
