can't argue with this.... especially as i get older.....

my hunts don't need to be like a combat swimmer mission to be a "real hunt".... I have long since outgrown that....

We build blinds from cut brush. Willow, myrtle, roso cane. The mud on our lease is so deep that you never hit clay so we cant walk through it. Blinds in general look stupid to me when i imagine myself being a duck but blinds built out of 2x4's and platforms look even worse IMO. unless you're spoiled and hunting in a rice field or some place where the ducks are idiots and it doesnt matter

I hunt either sitting on a levee, or in a layout blind

I agree. Three mile hikes through cord grass and mud up to my bunghole just doesn't do it for me anymore. Been there, done that. Hunt smarter not harder

it doesn't do shite for me either, but if you're hunting public land you better be prepared to do some trekking in certain situations or you will see more hunters than ducks.

I miss the days of driving the 4 wheeler down to the levee and hopping in the john boat to paddle into the rice field blinds. Now it seems like a lot more work on public land but def worth it.

not counting the ride to pecan island, we have a 10 minutes 4 wheeler ride, and a 5 minute boat ride, and one lucky hunter gets to go park the boat, and hike about 200 yards in hip deep water back to the blind

its really not too bad, but relying on a UTV and a boat can make it tricky

theres been more than one occasion when one or the other wouldnt run right and had to scratch a hunt or pushpole to another spot
