Who else fished the Spilllway today?

We fished Sorrel and the water was like a red dirt color. It was odd, something I have never seen there
The water level is right where it should be but the water was awful and we ran everywhere
We caught 5 bass and 3 goggle eye that we had to work hard for
Anyone else battle today out there? Not sure what the deal is. Water is 5 ft at the locks so it should be on

Fished a tournament out there yesterday afternoon. Everyone thought they were going to do a lot better than they did. Out of 43 boats about 10 weighted in fish.

We fished pigeon this morning. 3 boats and caught a mixed bag. I came in with 1 4lb bass, 1 sacalait, 1 Chinquapin, 1 cat fish and 3 goggle eye. Other 2 boats were about the same. Supposedly one of the guys caught 80 sacalait in the same spot on Thursday before the water stopped dropping.
I did pick up 2 more nice bass this afternoon on the river side.
ETA: the water is weired this year. Not a whole lotta clear water coming out of the woods but the level is where it needs to be.

I went Tuesday, but stayed in the Flat Lake and Little Bayou Long area... did terrible. Water was pulling out like it should and had good color, head scratching

Something is real wrong with this place. I’m not sure what but historically when water is at this level and falling the fishing is great. I’ve struck out 3 times in a row.

Fished pigeon yesterday. Ended up with 35 sacalait and goggle eye. Caught every single one on the same stump.

Yes! There is a big problem with spillway. I noticed three years ago. Hit all my old spots at just the right level. Nothing. Have to work hard to catch a fish. No goggle eye. I tell you what it is.
Those damn Asian carp are by the millions now. I witness thousands of them jumping last week in a small ditch a ran through.

Figured that had to be you because I didn't see anyone else catching them like that this weekend.

As a young fisherman in the 2000’s, I remember if bass weren’t on fire you would still catch 50 goggle eye that were massive.
The last time I caught fish consistently was the year the morganza opened.

In my opinion it is the lack of grass. Last September I was on them in an area of Cowan until I ran across the airboats spraying grass. Once the grass started disappearing so did the fish. The fish didn't die, they are around somewhere just holding on different targets.
I been visiting my usual spots for this time of year, under these water conditions and haven't found them stacked up yet this year. Mostly runouts with duck seed. I am picking up some dinks on the trees but not worth talking about. I haven't unlocked a good pattern or area but I haven't been fishing a lot this year.
The boat is almost complete and I will be back trying to find them in a couple weeks. I hope the spillway bounces back but it isn't looking good right now. Those big arse carp aren't helping either.
