Havent been out in a while because of baseball with the kids. Where is the bite? Looking for trout and redfish. Got enough boat to make a run if needed. Launching from BSL.

LA Marsh. Get there early. Bite ends early for trout due to heat unless you want to catch reds.

yeah go to Pitre and stay on the east side

edited: I was partially kidding because I don't fish Pitre anymore because it's so crowded but like the poster above said, be there early if you want trout. I'm usually about halfway across the sound at first light. Just make sure someone is running a spotlight for crab traps/debris/etc

Figured Pitre would be packed

What about further around oyster bay?

Halfway across sound meaning running to chandeleur?

All of those should be good areas to fish this time of year. Grab some shrimp and fish fringe bays.

just look for birds diving if you don't have any regular spots

I'll be rolling out of BSL early Sat/Sun fishing Biloxi Marsh. I will be strictly fishing for reds though unless I come across diving birds. Hoping to limit early and be back at the camp before everyone else even wakes up to crank up the smoker

You must not have the right kind of net.

I haven't fished Cat Island since last August. It's so hit or miss. We only went there because it was a Mississippi waters only tournament. Did very well on that Saturday, caught a lot of trout and reds. Decided to go back Sunday and didn't catch a single fish, not even a hard head. Haven't been back since

Cat has always been my favorite place to fish, due to so many good memories mostly, but it's definitely hit or miss. I haven't been much this year, due to all the bad reports. Went to the East side saturday to hide from the W wind and kill some time before the air show. There was nice clean/green water, but nothing other than spanish mackeral around.

same, but you can't beat the amount of species that are there when its on. I think one day last year we caught like 12 different kinds of fish or something crazy just drifting little bay/smugglers cove. We try and do a big camping weekend trip out on the south side every spring but weather hasn't cooperated the last couple years. We had over 30 people and 6 boats one year. good times

I haven't been across in three weeks due to the west winds but like Redneck and others said, if you are going to try IAP, get there early. Halfmoon too - two weeks ago there were 14 boats on the southside by sunup

There was a guy who posted on LA Sportsman about 2-3 weeks ago about limiting on reds at halfmoon and I knew it would be frickin jam packed every morning after that. I'm fine with people posting but their catch but leave the exact fricking location out

you have a camp in BSL? We are off a canal behind Cameron Island

We are across the bay in PC. Buddy of mine caught trout at halfmoon the week before we last went and said he didn't see but one other boat, a guide. Next weekend it was full up ... his quote "well that didn't last long"

And yes, you have to be very general. I have been scolded in the past on BN for mentioning too much. Same user name over there -- Not that i have anything to report since early june

Funny how that happens. People get stuck in a rut of fishing the same 5 spots in the summer.

We have taken to just keep running south till i don't see anyone else ... this summer seems like I'm leaving both the fish and the people behind
