My wife's father's day gift to me:

Custom longbow from Bamabows.

It is being made now. Hope to have it soon.

I plan on selling about 6. I might try to make it a package deal on Gun Broker.

An overunder shotgun. Either the Beretta SV-10 Prevail, or the Browning 725 sporting

Ballistics are negligible. The cost of 9mm is way cheaper.

+1

If you get good 9mm ammo, you're in plenty good shape, and the 9mm pistol will hold more ammo than a comparably sized .40

The "good" 9mm ammo = Winchester Ranger-T, Federal HST and Cor-Bon DPX.

If I decide to get my CCW it'll be a keltec pf9. Or a Kahr if I can pony up the little extra dough.

The Kahrs are considered to be a lot more reliable than the Kel-Tecs.

The Kahr PM9 is pricey, and hard to justify based cost/value. I have a few PM9's that I bought from the factory on some special pricing, but I don't think I'd buy one at typical retail prices.

The Kahr CW9 and CM9 are worth a look - a few less features than the PM9, but quite a bit cheaper. Saw CW9 on Gunbroker (NIB) yesterday for $318

I just got back from looking at both of these guns at academy. They were both great, liked the S&W a little more, but I don't know how I feel about not having a safety on my first pistol.

This. Something a little more weather resistant than what I have.

The only safety you should need is your trigger finger

Don't get me wrong, I am safe with guns, I have just never owned a pistol. I want to get real comfortable with a pistol first before I move on to one without a safety. Just gives me peace of mind.

Get a 45 or a revolver or something with a thumb safety

I really like the Ruger lc9. The guy at academy told me that S&W just came out with a compact m&P called the shield that has a thumb safety on it, I'm going to check that out monday.
