Everybody knows somebody that carried this or that. The 1911 is in the minority when it comes to sidearms carried in war theatres from the people I know that have a choice.
Pistols are a personal choice though. If you like a 1911 and are comfortable with it, more power to you. I like the 1911's design and style, I just don't want it as an everyday pistol to carry...

One advantage for the Glock is if you are involved in a shooting and your pistol is confiscated who gives a shite because it is just a Glock and there are a million more just like the one that was confiscated.
A customized 1911 isn't so easily replaced.

That's actually the only reason I don't EDC a 1911.
