Find you an old Honda Fourtrax 300. Those were bulletproof.

$300 is fair.
IF no major shite is needed. Tires, muffler, etc.
I bought a recon for $400 and out tires, bearings, brakes, carb kit, tune up.
Runs great. Cost me like 250 for everything. It's an 05.
