To the majority of y'all, a scope is not a three dimensional box, LxWxH. A variable power scope is written for exmple as 3-9x, that means anywhere from 3 times magnification to 9 times magnification. The last number is the objective size is millimeters.

For example 3-9x40mm

Depends on what the gun is... I couldn't imagine a big bore in synthetic. My zombie gun..

The best rifle/scope/ammo this 60+ year old has ever owned -- a 270 Ruger M77 stainless steel with hogue stock with a trigger job / Burris Euro Diamond 2.5-10 scope / Federal Premium ammo with 110 g Barnes TSX bullets. I keep my Browning auto .270 and Tikka .243 in the gun closet.

The .270 has relatively low recoil and can kill any animal in the South. This is not the most expensive rifle, but it just loves the Federal/Barnes bullets (which are better than any other I have used). The ammo is extremly flat shooting -- one inch high at 100 yards which puts you dead on at 200 yards -- and is devastating when it hits. Plus, the scope is fantastic at gathering light when I hunt the south Louisiana floatant marsh and most deer appear 15-25 minutes after sunset.

I was so thankful this past weekend in North Louisiana when I put my .444 H&R primitive weapon aside and picked up my .270.

P.S. I just love my rifle and deer hunting.

I shoot left-handed because I am left eye dominant but use a right-handed model bolt action because I am spastic with my left arm and hand.

Shouldn't ever need a second shot anyway. LOL

I'm right handed but left eye dominant. My rifles and bows are for southpaws, but I shoot handguns as a righty. It took some time to make the adjustment to left hand bolts, but I'm glad I made the switch. When you do need a follow up shot it's nice to not have to lower the gun and shoulder it again.

Employed the BAR in 30.06 for many years but bought an A bolt in .300WM with Leupold gold ring about a dozen years ago. I can knock the nuts off of a gnat @ 300 meters with either one...
