Wish I hadn't sold mine... 336 may be the most beautiful trail gun ever made.

I am leaning 30.06 soley do to that fact that I feel like this will be the in between of the 30.30 and .270.

.270 is pretty much a necked down .30-06 round. It shoots smaller grain bullets (100-160) giving it more fps and a flatter trajectory. .30-06 can be loaded with (150-220). Loaded with the heavier projectiles the .30-06 could be used on larger game if you chose.

Just bought "my" first. Had my dad's 30-30 that I enjoy using as a brush gun but new lease requires me to stretch one out to about 300 yd every so often.

TC Venture 308 with Nikon Prostaff 3X9X40. Advertising was true for me. Shot 1" group at 100 out of the box.

This is "can't go wrong" purchase. I would skip the BOSS as a 270 doesn't need it, though.

I agree about skipping the boss, as that is what I did, but I would disagree in that the .270 WSM is a better all around round than the .270. I got rid of my .270 as soon as I purchased and started using my .270 WSM. Love the WSM.

yeah, that's not quite right. As said above, the .270 uses the 30-06 case. Same for .280 and 25-06. If you want a lower powered 30 cal that brings more than the 30-30, go with .308.

Well, I have owned both and will say without hesitation I like the WSM over the Win. They are very similar but the WSM is just that much faster and flatter than the standard round. I will not say that they are worlds apart though because they aren't.

I find that people that advocate the 270 wsm over the 270 win have little idea what they are talking about. Have had a couple guys tell me they shot 270 wsm because they were faster and flatter when they were shooting rifles with 22" barrels. When shot through a chrono they were getting the same velocities as a 270 win with a 24" barrel. oops, so much for that argument.

I just like shorter cartridges for reasons that I cannot defend. If getting a .270, I'd like the .270-308

Why not a 7mm-08. Cool little round.

Wasn't really taking away from the 270wsm, just don't see what it does better then the 270 win. If anything I would go to a 6.5 or 7mm bullet if I truly wanted a "long range".rifle.

I'm actually not advocating anything. Simply giving my opinion, observation, and preference for what I own and shoot. I couldn't care less what you prefer or shoot. Oops, so much for OB know-it-all punking all of us WSM owners.
