I am looking to purchase my first gun and there is a gun show in Gonzales today and tomorrow that my buddy wants to go to. From what I have read online, the prices at gun shows actually more expensive than in stores. Is this true? If so, what is the purpose of going to a gun show? Is it simply so you can look at and compare several different varities all in one place? Thanks OB.

Cool shite to look at. BUT I wouldn't be buying anything right now at a gun show. Hysteria is probably at its highest there. Prices are going to be way to high. Wait till the panic simmers down and the prices drop.

I've made several really good purchases at gun shows years ago. They are highly inflated now. Nice to look around and feel different pistols, then get on gunbroaker and buy from there once you know what you like.

Last gun show I went to was underwhelming. No deals. Mostly old guns and old people. There weren't even any decent women to look at.

My opinion on gun shows is that they are for people who love to walk around and show other people that they have a cool gun. They might never open carry, but will at a gun show just to act cool. You used to be able to get really good deals, but I'd bet that isn't the case anymore

Not really the responses I expected but much appreciated none the less. Looks like I just saved myself a trip to Gonzales.

If you are looking to buy your first gun, the LAST place you need to go is a gun show.

If you're wanting to actually pick up a gun and see how it feels in your hand, a gun show is a good place to do that. 2 months ago could probably even gotten a good deal buying there, but not right now. Right now it's just a haven for suckers with more money than sense.

Went to a gun show incasper wy last night. $5000 AR's all around.

Some good deals on some old hunting rifles but not that good. All the 1911's were jacked up too.

Almost bought a mossberg 400 shotgun but I can get better deals on that as well.

Gutted lowers going for $200+.... Poly
