Yup. About 20 minutes from Tensas NWR.

Nice. I lived in West Monroe for 5 years. Loved it up there.

The salt water kept calling me though...

Man, I miss the salt. I had family down in St. Bernard until that bitch blew thru there. They all moved out. Don't get to go much the last few years. Going with Cahrlie Thomason in May, though!

Yep, fo reals. You've said stuff about a bad back and you've got that old dude in your avi. I'm a simpleton I supposed. My wife would call me "dim witted".

Congratulations! They do get older and you will be able to get out when the wife lets you. My son, MSwebfoot, has 3 boys, seven and under and he gets to slip off pretty regular during hunting season.

I feel like I'm 50.

Like Chris Gaines said "I'm much too young to feel this damn old. "

Working on your Ph.D?
absolutely not. Trying to get a ME degree because forestry barely pays enough for me to ride a bicycle around town. Half of the time, I made more money on mileage than I did on salary. I think I figured it out to be $28k/yr,and I typically worked 50-80hr weeks

Never did make it to lost lake. We typically tried to work on the edges of the basin close to roads because the logs would have to be floated on a barge to trucks on the land, so we needed a good spot to load the trucks

I know the feeling. Except I'm 12 years younger than you.

I got bad knees, high blood pressure, and high triglycerides.
Also, have back issues. Digenterative disc disease runs in family.

Very little $. All of my bills combined total up to ~$24k/yr. I was making $28k. No way I could progress with my life or start a family on that salary

You can barely afford the shite they put in schools. I'd rather wipe with joint paper than that.

Like I said, my mileage money was higher than my salary money sometimes. Abso-fricking-lutely loved it. It was like living in a dream world to be able to work in the woods every single day, run and fix equipment, managing loggers, prepping bids, cruising timber, trying to figure out the right prescription for the stand, and best of all, seeing all of the places that hadn't been touched for 100yrs.

It is a pretty neat thing to walk up on ruts that you know are 50yrs old and haven't changed since. One of the best things was walking around all day and stumbling upon a random tree that was so unique I just stared at it for a while. That stuff stops me in my tracks
