sure I haven’t thought about all the down side and figured you guys would have some thoughts. Is it worth the hassle or should I just keep it limited to family and a few friends?
The way IMO to set it up is to decide what you want out of the club. Hunting clubs can be great fun or great headaches depending on the members.
With a new club you have the option to decide how you want it to be. You don’t have to accept any random person. Meet with potential members and get to know them and understand what they want out of a club. Find people who share your vision and seem to agree more than disagree. Get everyone together that you think you may want to join, and have a round table discussion on the structure of the club, the rules, the penalties for disobeying the rules, etc.
The best clubs are ones with people who stay involved, everyone gets along, work loads are shared, similar values are shared. You want it to become a club of friends, not bickering enemies.
Some clubs are social things and a getaway from life for men to hunt and get together afterward and play cards/drink/watch football.
Some are more family oriented for bringing family/kids
Some are just for rich doctors and lawyers who rarely hunt that pay someone to keep the place up and set up plots for them and they’ll just show up one or two weekends to hunt out of the year and otherwise have nothing to do with it or the other members.
Anyways, problems occur when you mix people who have a different idea of what a club should be.

You need to charge the family and friends and leave it at that.

this insurance is basically worthless.
I was curious about this. The landowner requires it, he approved the policy. Premium rolled into the yearly dues of 10 guys. Landowner doesn't call bothering people - worth my $60/yr
