Pretty good listen so far. I've always had good luck in bow season hunting feed trees. My dad hunted some of the same areas around the same time as Warren and his stories are similar. They mostly involve spikes and 4 points. Pretty fun to listen to.

I wish spurs were still legal. I used to go from the ground to hunting in 3 or 4 minutes.

Me too. I had Klein tree spurs. I had a few instances where I went back to the ground in about 10 seconds. I’m not as you d as I used to be and sold them. It’s stick ladders, ladder stands and boxes now. Those were some fun times .

I have my dad and my uncles, one used short lineman spurs and the other used the longer timber spurs. I still use them on private land every now and again. I'm still young (early 30s) but I'm amazed that I would hang a stand on spurs with no lineman's belt in my teens/early 20s.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion.....I've listened to Mr. Warren on quite a few different podcast. He is fantastic, I have a lot of admiration for the man. At some point though I think it's about the numbers and stats. Any man that kills 17 deer in one year is doing it for bragging rights. More power to them, nothing wrong with that, but I have a family, a job, a young child who need me and I cant hunt for 3 months straight. And if I did, I would only kill 3 or 4 a year anyway. Downvote away.

I hear ya but back in the day a lot of people did that or maybe it was just southerners. I’ve heard of numerous people killing a shite ton of deer in the 70’s and early 80’s. They were genuinely supplying food for their families. All they needed was a gun of bow and arrow. It was cheaper back then verses now with horn porn and gimmicks.

I can eat a deer before it has to hit the freezer. I eat 4 or 5 deer a year at least plus 10 to 20 pigs. I hunt multiple states. When I was at LSU and mad at the deer I could kill 10 or so in the Homochitto and none of the meat went to waste. I'm lucky to be able to spend as much time as I do in the woods but hey, part of that is due to me making good decisions.

Lol this was before I had a GPS or smart phone. I'm moving to West Fel parish soon and will be hunting there again. It's been 8 years since I've been.

If you can find some oaks dropping near pine thickets it's money, but that's anywhere.

Mr Warren is a fine hunter. A woodsman in every sense.

I used to hunt a DMAP property that begged us to kill does. I killed 15 one year, nine were with a bow. It wasn’t for bragging rights. It was the thrill of the hunt getting that close to deer and killing them with a bow.

As long as the meat is used and no laws are broken, it’s all good.

100% this. As long as it’s legal, I’m happy. Not enough hunters left to get upset about another hunter’s goals.

After College the government bought them out. This is the same club that Fred Parnell and his indian Bilo was at. If you are in that area lets hook up
