One my best hunts ever, I was in the stand about 45 minutes befor light. There were 2 deer feeding at about 200 yds. Kept looking through the binoculars there and down the road tobrught and left. Finall got light enough to see an the buck was very nice but not what I was after. Die was big and fat.
Half hour later a nicer buck came out and they started a light battle. The lesser buck pushed the better one out.
He came back and I got a nice 9 pt .

How is it 45 min before light but you can see 2 deer feeding 200 yards away.

Y’all keep talking about daybreak but I’m talking about it being pitch black and can’t see your hand in front of your face.

On a clear night you can see black shapes out past 200 yards in a clearing.
Try it sometimes.night is rarely totally dark. Moon, stars all play a part. I saw one of the finest bucks I’ll ever see at about 200 yds. The moonlight lit his antlers up

I like to be settled in an hour before legal shooting time.

While getting there extra early isn't essential to a good day in the woods, I love waiting on first light for a half hour or so. (Not more than I like coffee or bacon, but I love it.)
Seeing the woods come alive a few times a year is really cool.

That said, I haven't killed many deer before I could see very well.
