Me too. My grandfather gave my brother and I most of his guns and said here y'all clean these up, then died before we could give them back. I think he knew the end was near and that was his way of giving them to us.

Not necessarily. He's a hoarder and has a ridiculous amount of stuff. He made serious money wheeling and dealing and has piles upon piles of stuff (all good stuff though; not like a typical trash hoarder). He always had a ton of guns that he bought and sold.

All the ones with special/sentimental value he gave to his kids and grandkids. These are like the pawns he used in his wheeling and dealing. He's trying to clear out some of his stuff out before he passes so his wife won't have to worry about it. His kids will come in and pillage all of it if he dies, so he wants to get some value out of it before he goes to leave to his wife.

For everyone that has gotten the email, what do y'all think of the prices?

Anything stick out as too high or too low. Like I said, I know a good bit about guns, but I'm not real keen on valuing them based off of condition. I may go get one of the blue books, but I figured the wealth of knowledge on the OB could help me out.

My Great grandfather just passed away three weeks ago and had an extensive gun collection. Many of the guns where custom made or altered for him. This inculded collectables and other highly valued guns. In total there was approximatly 60 guns. We currently are getting them valued by Dan Calvert. Not sure I spelled his last name right. He works for Mr. Lipsey. Ill try and find his card to pass along his contact information if your interested. He was very knowledgable and quite impressive in tellign the hisotyr behind the guns.

I appreciate that. I'm gonna go by his house tonight or tomorrow and see if he's okay with the prices I came up with. I'll mention this to him to see if he's interested.

Sorry, I didn't want to lead anyone on. We are not selling any guns, He had 8 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren so I don't think any will make it for sale. The collection is impressive to see though. I'm lucky my father is the oldest male heir (he only had duaghters) so he gets to pick first. Its been a battle but, we are getting a lever action .32 Whinchester that has been passed down through four generations (perfect condition)over a german luger from the battle of the buldge (in almost perfect condition).
