Throw this bait on points and along the banks. It doesn't dive deep so don't worry too much about grass. The bass will suck it in and hold it. You'll think you're hung in grass but as soon as you pull through the "grass", you realize it's a Damn fish and not grass

We caught em the exact same way earlier this year, except we used KVD squarebills instead of the shad rap!

I'll go buy one. Headed to s. State park Friday. May head up to Yokum, but would have no idea where to start.

Just throw across the dead grass on points and around the boat docks. Also, don't be afraid to throw in the middle of the bays. If you have a good depth finder, look for the creek/river beds. That freeze killed a lot of the shallow grass. If yoru hit grass stop a second. That particular bait (I'm not lying about the amount of fish we caught on that bait and now the crappie are hitting it too) doesn't float all the way up, it'll just suspend. But I've caught several stopping and then reeling right about the grass. Find the warmest water and fish the coves.... The fish are moving in to spawn now and will do that for about another 6 weeks typically. Just keep in mind most of those coves are not real deep. So that bait goes 2-4 feet... Depending on how fast you reel. Use 10 lbs line. If you are going to crappie fish use 4-6 lbs line with a jig (blue and white or blue and black) and put that little crappie yellow ball bait on your hook. You can simply troll and leave your line in the water. Caught several big sac au lait this way. Fish early early and don't leave in the evenings until everyone else is gone and you can't see anymore. We caught so many fish late in the evening. They really started to get real active when you see the sun hit the trees on the Texas side... Looking towards the Indian Mounds area. Fish Yokum and the cove where bird Island is.... Go deep in there. That's where our camp is and it's just a great spawning area.

Thanks! So deep in the bay? I've only fished the mouth and the islands.

If the perch are biting, I may just chase them.

Go Bass... Get that Rapala shad rap crankbait size 5. You'll catch everything. Including big bass. It only dives max 4ft. Any deeper you'll stay in grass.

I fried some sac au lait down there last night. The fishing is getting better every day bc they are moving to spawning areas. It's been fun.

Jig on ultra-light. Bend pole by pulling back on jig. Shoot jig along water under dock. Catch giant The White Perch.

I was just messing with you. I have a jointed shad rap I've done well on in the past.

Yes. Not one bite. Not even a pike. Every once in a while this happens to me. The day, on paper, looks to be a no-brainer 100 fish day. Must be a pressure issue. Did not see a fish move, and no bucks in the clear shallow water in the backs of the coves.

That lake will make you rethink everything you know about fishing

Have a feeling it will get hit hard this spring. Most years they are about spawned out when the lake gets raped in march and april, but with the hard winter it may line up for the weekend warriors.
