"Today marks day 13 of our search," Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said Tuesday. "In the initial phase of the search we were searching on land and water in hopes they made it to land. After an exhaustive search of the land areas, we feel certain at this point the young men did not make it out of the river."

The hunters are Gunner Palmer, 16, of Hazlehurst and Zeb Hughes, 21, of Wesson. The two were scouting for ducks on Dec. 3 and did not return.

Must be stuck under a log or something. They’d have surfaced by now somewhere.

RIP fellas. Prayers to the families.

Yeah, it's seemed that way for a while now. The thing with the Mississippi River is they could be very near where they ran into trouble or 20+ miles downriver by now.

One of my nephews is a black water diver and has been down in the river many times and there's lots of things under that water to get hung up on.

I just hope for some closure soon for the families of these two young men.

What do duck hunting clothes do for boyancy of a body? It likely depends on what they had on. But it was cold day right so they were likely layered? Compared to say fishing in the summer in flops, a t-shirt, and shorts I mean.

Still surprising they haven’t found either of the 3, dog included.

I wonder if they had waders on.

God Bless your nephew, but I would make it about 3 seconds down there.

I too hope the family gets some closure on this, so tragic.

Been following this story. In my teenage years I was hunting on the south side of the Intracoastal south of Sulphur in a place we weren't supposed to hunt. While we were hunting the wind changed and blew our flat bottom off the bank and to the other side of the canal. My buddy and I flipped a coin to decide who would swim across in that cold water to retrieve the boat. He lost but wouldn't do it. I was to the point of stripping off clothing and grabbing a decoy bag and swim across. About the time I was going to do it, a boat with duck hunters cruised up the IC. We flagged them down and lived happily ever after. I would not have made it across the IC and back. The good Lord was looking down on us.

Do you think they will eventually find those men?

I think they will. Two years ago two boys from Florida sunk their boat and drown at fort Jackson in the Mississippi and they found both of the 2-3 weeks later!
