I was out breaking in my new boat, just tooling around yesterday. There was this weird unmanned boat going around.

Is it the Chinese? Is it a company mapping more contours? I'm just curious. The pic kind of sucks because I had to zoom in.

Testing for boat dash. Delivery to your boat or duck blind.

No idea, but getting a Hardee's biscuit delivered when you're hungover in a duck blind sounds awesome

Right? It was different for sure. I was testing out the deadsticking bite. Caught 3 but not quite there yet. Water temps about 62.5, needs to get down towards 55 then deadsticking is on.

Could be for underwater surveying or some type of acoustic monitoring

It was probably acoustic monitoring if I had to guess. It was out in the main channel of the Washita between the bridges, not on the Red River channel.

The area where it was running is one of the areas the stripers school up in deep water for winter deadsticking.

I was also marking big blues in 50-60 fow. Once I get this boat broke in, it will be deadsticking time. Which also means, while deadsticking I will throw out 3-4 big baits on planer boards dragging for that state record blue cat and $25k.

Mapping for topos. Companies like Navionics are making highly detailed contour maps these days.

There have been a couple of these running on Lake Fork the last year or so.

Go pick it up and take it to your house and the rightful owners will probably show up pretty quickly and you can ask them.
