Ive got a boy with a mans size 9 foot, but is like 5 foot even. Not chunky. Would like to get him some chest waders to send him out on retrieves as I have no dog. Figure waders will keep him a touch drier with all the clumsy falling he is going to do.

Youth sizes are generally stopping at 7, and a mans size 9 will swallow his frame..any recommendations from guys that have gone thru this? I

Same with my son. 10yrs old and a size 10 foot. Havent shopped Waders, but for coveralls or bibs we found womens sizes to fit him best. Youth was too small, Mens was too long.

I went through it, about 30 years ago when I was like your boy. My old man would just put stuff on me that was too big, telling me it had to last more than one season so he bought everything a couple sizes too big. Tie em up with zip ties, yellow rope, belts, etc. I fight it right now with my children wanting hunting clothes that fit perfectly. Can't justify new stuff every year as they grow. Just one of those things to deal with. It's temporary.

What size does his dad wear?? Joking. I’m in same position with my kid. Hard as hell finding decent clothes, much less hunting type clothes!

My new go to store Scheels had some womens in stock, and I had a 20 dollar discount so came out to 99 for his. They are Itasca, I have always had decent luck with that brand.

Thanks for the recs.

Get him something that is a little bigger than what he needs right now so he can grow into, them waders aint cheap baw. I've had the same pair since a late teen year and they're still a little big but almost perfect and I can get fatter and still use them until the spring a leak.

Edit: I'd get him the lowest men's size you can that fits and tell him to wear extra socks or stuff the end with a sock. In Alex, Academy or Security (is that place still open) have traditionally had waders. Simmon's in Monroe def has them and there are a few more place in Monroe that will have them. Southern Wearhouse in Jena might have some waders, but I wouldn't guess they would have a ton in stock at all times.

Thanks man. I ordered the ones from Scheels, I’ll see how they fit. I got them for a good bit cheaper so let’s hope they don’t fall apart.

Good to see them making a product to fit the bill

I know at least some of the brands make "slim" and "short" sizes now. Maybe that would work better, but probably you'll probably pay a premium.

Oops, guess I should read the replies first.
